Children's book author Gwendolyn Hooks lives in Oklahoma City where she writes to "fire up children to read and explore life." Gwendolyn specializes in beginning readers and has published four children's books with Scholastic, Children's Press, and Bebop Books. She has also written for Harcourt School Publishers, JAKES magazine, and Highlights Magazine for Children. Gwendolyn has presented writing programs at Encyclo-Media in Oklahoma City ,  Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Oklahoma Educator's Association, Urban League, Red Dirt Book Festival, Metropolitan Library System, National Writers Workshop, and in classrooms.

Gwendoloyn's dad was in the Air Force and her family moved whenever he was transferred to a new base. She has lived in Georgia , Texas , Washington , and Italy . She still loves to travel. Gwendolyn has visited Canada , England , Belgium , Bahamas , and Mexico . She's always ready for another trip. Traveling is not just for fun. Gwendolyn uses her travels to focus on new ideas for books. She also gets ideas from her three adult children, her husband, and her cat.
