James E. Gaskin
Author

James E. Gaskin started solving technology problems for businesses small and large in 1984. In 17 books and hundreds of articles, he tells people faster, cheaper, newer, and smarter ways to connect to each other and the world. Gaskin travels the country in Hawaiian shirts explaining why Technology Is Broken and how you can fix IT and improve your business in his trademark "unbiased and unboring" style.

Student groups in middle and high school hear about either of two career options: writing non-fiction for consumers and corporate publishing, and technology development, sales, and management. Now a member of the PodTech Network, Gaskin is one of the leading bloggers with video and audio posts across the World Wide Web.

Keynote speeches for seminars set the tone for the entire day. James Gaskin's keynote was not only interesting but informative. When James Gaskin spoke, the audience listened, laughed, and learned.
—Malcolm MacTaggart, President & CEO, CRYPTOCard.

James Gaskin's presentations were the highlight of the NetworkWorld conference. He updated his audiences with the latest trends, tips, and techniques in remote technologies and at the same time, makes us laugh. Delivered in Letterman-style, his 'Top 10 Things You Don't Want to Hear from Remote Users' poked fun at the differences in perspective between techies and their users while bringing out valuable instructional points.
—Sandi Smith, President, Sandra L. Smith PC

PRESENTATION 1
Technology is Broken: How to survive when you go into the job market.

Unfortunately, no one will hire video game players or the fastest IM typist in the real world. Yet a variety of fascinating career options await those who can think clearly, stay curious, and learn a few hundred acronyms.

PRESENTATION 2
Writing for Fun and More Profit

How to write non-fiction for consumer and trade publications, books, and corporate marketing materials. You don't have to sell out, but you must be creative, self-motivated, and willing to tell an interesting story.

PRESENTATION 3
World Wide Web 2.0 and Beyond

If the Internet was the Information Superhighway, the Web has become the town square gathering place for millions. MySpace, FaceBook, and 10,000 new blogs every day will transform business to business and business to consumer relationships. Powered by 11-18 year olds, the Web will be both more open and less private.

PRESENTATION 4
Six Words to Success

Using real life examples from business, technology, and real life raising a son and daughter, Gaskin outlines how six words can lead anyone to success: Do Something, Be Honest, Laugh More. Students who understand these six words go beyond self esteem to respect for themselves and others.
